Happy Dominion Day!

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day folks!

I hope this day finds you all well.  And not as wet as those poor saps in Ottawa.  It’s raining cats and dogs here.

Happy 148 Canada!

I wanted to do something special for Canada Day this year, so I enlisted the help of a rather talented artist who does caricatures.

I went searching for such an artist and I found one.  Turns out I didn’t need to look beyond my own family.

Jennafer Harris of Fancy Paints and Sew Fancy celebrated Canada Day with yours truly.  And we had a blast.

Sorry, we didn’t include a caricature of Gerald Butts.  As an ass, we felt his picture would violate the WordPress Community Standards.  For the same reason, we couldn’t include a picture of the wicked witch.  No, not the green one, the one pretending to run Queen’s Park.  We also felt that to include a caricature of her predecessor would defeat the celebratory mood we Canadians are enjoying today.

So without further ado, let’s have some fun:

Up first is our wonderful Prime Minister.  The one who appears well fed.

A Well Fed Prime Minister, Stephen J. Harper

And not wanting to be out done, here comes pride in the backstretch with fabulous hair, the stoned pony Justine Trudeau:

Dude, I'm Buzzed.

Dude, I’m Buzzed.

And here’s a green chipmunk with the name of Dizzy Lizzy in May:

I'm not a chipmunk! I'm a beaver!

I’m not a chipmunk! I’m a beaver!

And to complete the lineup, here’s an Angry Vampire.  Thomas Mulcair, aka wolverine.

THIS IS MY HAPPY FACE!!

THIS IS MY HAPPY FACE!!

I hope you all enjoyed those caricatures, lord knows I did!

I also hope you all have a wonderful day celebrating our nation.  Canada really is a wonderful country.

Although, if an American suggests that we should name the bridge from Vancouver to Halifax the Peter Man’s Bridge, you have my permission to laugh at the stupidity of such a name.  haha, sorry Rick Mercer, I stole that.

Hi Kevin I’m passing along an email that I sent to a number of people last year. I have been collecting data on the relationships between the Mowat Centre and our Ontario municipal, Ontario provincial and now our new Federal government’s election platforms, policies and partners.

We’ve seen a strong correlation between these elected governments and the same individuals/organizations (primarily First Nations, environment, unions) involved in each election.

What I find most interesting is that, aside from the usual Progressive supporters, all of the key advisors in the new Trudeau government come from or are directly associated with Mowat.

In short, the Mowat Centre papers appear to strongly favour Social Enterprises, over traditional private sector corporations and government control over virtually everything. There is also, quite regularly a reference to pension fund use.

Perhaps you have also been reading the Mowat papers. If not, I’d love to have a discussion about this.

    Nancy
